Welcome to EMS India Environmental Mutagen Societies of India
pie_chart
Environmental Mutagen Society of India was founded with the clear objectives of promoting research and education on environmental mutagens and disseminates scientific information on basic and applied aspects of mutagenesis and carcinogenesis as related to the protection of human health and environmental safety. EMSI is affiliated with the International Association of Environmental Mutagen Societies since its inception. It was the fourth society to be affiliated with the International Association after the U.S., European and Japanese Environmental Mutagen Societies. The society has been recognized by Indian National Science Academy for collaboration in areas of common interests. Environmental issues are being recognized as important components of modem society at national and global levels. The global awareness among public, media, politicians about the environmental quality and recognition of harmful effects of environmental pollution on human health and ecosystems will press for more scientific inputs from the environmental scientists. Environmental mutagenesis will continue to remain at the forefront since evidence for mutational basis of several environmental diseases other than cancer is accumulating. A wide spectrum of scientific disciplines are represented by the membership, which comes from the universities, colleges, national laboratories, medical and veterinary institutions from all parts of the country
